I've been actively working with the Belt-Conveyor Scale Round Table team to come up with language changes for National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Handbook 44 for Belt-Conveyor Scales. CLICK HERE FOR THE DRAFT OF THESE CHANGES. I've sent this document to the service companies for their comments with the advice we need their responses back ASAP. We want to make this document available to the WWMA who will have their meeting in September. Our hope is the WWMA will move this forward and become a voting item for July 08. We plan to get this document to them in the next few weeks so they can get it on their agenda. Please review and

The Western Weights and Measures Association met in Salt Lake in September 2006 for their 49th annual meeting and now have posted on their web site the minutes of that meeting. Please review the WWMA S&T Committee Final Report on their web site http:/www.westernwma.org/ with special attention to pages 26, 27 and 28 which deal with Belt-Conveyor Scales proposed changes. They want to change the language for Zero and Span testing and Belt Tracking. We as an organization should review these proposed changes and discuss with the members of the board and take measures to support these changes or challenge them if applicable as the voice of the NW&SA. Please review the changes on the website and send comments to me at
