Dear Member and Guest:
Enclosed you will find
the tentative agenda for our Annual Technical Meeting. This years
meeting will be held in St. Louis, Missouri at Doubletree Westport Hotel
February 25th through the 27th, 2008. We believe this meeting
will be very informative and one of the best we have ever had. Please
keep in mind the dates and remember the cut off date at the Doubletree
for the NSWA rate is February 1, 2008. When calling and making a
reservation please mention the NSWA meeting to get the group rate of
$95.00 per night + tax prior to Feb 1. There will be a limited number of tabletop
display areas available for vendors.
We will center this technical
meeting around your “Storage Pile Inventory” and will have speakers
covering all areas that influence the accuracy of the inventory;
Weighing, Sampling, Aerial Survey, Pile Density and much more. One of
the subjects that will be discussed is why is it necessary to do a
Storage Pile Inventory if the weighing equipment delivering and removing
coal from the storage pile are all working well within the requirements
of NIST HB44? Should be a lively discussion.
We are happy
to announce NIST has elected to have another half day round table
discussion covering Belt-Conveyor Scales which will be held Wednesday
afternoon. At the last technical meeting we
addressed some of the issues the Weights and Measures are considering
changing in HB44 for Belt-Conveyor scales. We formed and ad hoc
committee to address some of those issues. We have submitted our
recommendation to NIST who has sent them to the four weighs and measures
divisions; Western, Central, Southern and Eastern. If they elect to
incorporate these changes they will be voted on next July and if passed
will be law the following January.

National Institutes of
Standards and Technology (NIST) and NCWM are planning a combined meeting of the
USNWG and the NTETC for belt-conveyor scales on February 27‑28, 2008 immediately
following the National Weighing and Sampling Association Technical Conference in
St. Louis, MO (www.nwsassn.org). A tentative list of topics is attached and a
more detailed agenda will be emailed no later than February 21, 2008.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
NWSA members, holders of active NTEP Certificates of
Conformance for Belt-Conveyor Scales, and past members of the NTETC
Belt-Conveyor Scale Sector.
The meeting of the
USNWG is open to all interested parties. The meeting of the NTETC Belt-conveyor
scale sector is open to all NCWM members and other registered parties. Note
that an NCWM member from industry may request membership on an NTETC sector by
making this request known, in writing, to the NTEP Committee Chair ().
An individual who is not a member of the NCWM may pre-register to participate
in the NTETC meeting but will not have voting rights should a vote be called.
